December 7, 2015

Reflecting on myself I felt like I understood the assignment. I wish I would of picked a more technology based website. I also think I could of talked longer to the class about what the website was. However I alway enjoyed coolimate.com so I figured why not share the site with others who may not know about it. However....
There is always room for improvement.

Tonight I am reflecting on Aaron's presentation.

linoit.com
Place that you can store sticky notes, good for reminders, and note taking. You are also aloud to change the colors of the sticky notes.

Found lino.com from the class textbook.

Once signed up for FREE you can pick the color of stocky note by clicking and dragging it to its place. Then you can type what is needed to be typed and save.

Can make different files with to place the sticky note.

Aaron did very good at informing us over this new helpful tool. However I would personally not use it just because I would find more use out of using using real sticky notes rather then ones on the computer. Even thought with the computer notes you can sign on from anywhere and look at the notes.

Today we learned about Linkedin.com, we also learned how to make an account. LinkedIn sounds like a very useful source to finding a job. I enjoyed getting to learn about the site and set one up. I can't wait to finish making my profile.

November 9

I was not in class on the day the class talked about future of education. I was with my cheer coach at a recruiting event.

I feel like being a teacher in todays society would be a challenge since technology is always changing and improving. I think that using iPads in a classroom could be useful to a certain point. However, I feel as if it could be a distraction as well. For research purposes it could be useful for students to be able to look up information on their own in the classroom. Back when I was in elementary school any time we needed to look something up on the internet we would have to go to the computer lab as a class and use our time there to find something about our topic. Now they can stay in the class and look up the information.
The chapter talked about mashups and how it takes a bunch of different websites and makes it into one. Like google maps. One can open google maps and locations will pop up along with their information; address, hours, phone number, and website. I use maps all the time.

October 26

I was not in class for the lesson over Wikis. I had to cheer at a basketball game at the same time as the basketball game.

Wikis is like a web post that people can edit as the days go on. Wikis could be used in the classroom if I were to post a question and have the students answer. Students may also add pictures and videos. As a teacher I could add videos to add for the students to watch.

Flipped Classroom -PSA Oct. 12

Good Evening Students,

Tonight we will be doing something different. Tonight you will be learning on your own and tomorrow in the class we will have several activities to do with what you are about to learn.

We are moving on to a new chapter having to do with Number Lines. Please click on the link and follow all directions. This is going to be new to everyone so please take your time and make sure you completely understand what is happening. I can also ask any questions that you post in the comments. Look through the powerpoint, watch the video, and do the assignment that goes along with it.

I will see you all in class tomorrow so be ready!

-Ms. Lancin

Next morning:
I will be evaluating what they know by using an activity called "Example, Non- Example" that was found on k20center.ou.edu
I will have them take out a piece of notebook paper and ask them to give me an example of a certain number on a number line and then ask them to give me a non- example of a different number. I would so this about 3-4 times before having them turn in the paper. That is when I would take the time and have the students ask any questions they may have.

At the end of the week I would provide a short quiz. This quiz would consist of placing numbers on a number line and identifying numbers on a number line.

Flipped classroom, PSA, visual learning tools, Pinterest

The chapter was over visual learning tools. Personally I am a visual learner. I like to see examples while the directions are being given that way I can imagine it. We also began talking about flipped classrooms and how it can be helpful. We talked about a project we were going to be doing along with the expectations of the project. We were to create some type of presentation. This could be by videoing yourself, prezi.com or powtoon.com. I choose powtoon because it was very creative and looked fun. It was defiantly a new challenge because I had never made a slideshow/video like they have.
Within a reading we did an activity and had to type the names of websites we have heard of and from there we copied and pasted them into website such as worditout.com. This is what I created out of those words.

We then got to log onto pinterest.com and create a board for Flipped Classrooms. We were to find things that we found interesting and pin them to our board. Once we did that we shared with the class what we found. Later that night I actually had someone follow my board that we had made.

 This I believe. Podcasting

In class we talked about podcasting and how it is used. Podcasting can be used to inform any listeners of any information that could be needed. People podcast over anything and everything. We inserted two websites into our live binder tonight: talkwithteachers.com and audioboom.com. The professor put questions up on the board that we needed to answer. With these questions we would make a short podcast using the statement "This I believe..." This podcast was to not go over three minutes and we were to answer some of the questions. The next Monday we would share out podcast.

https://audioboom.com/boos/3629971-this-i-believe?utm_campaign=embed&utm_content=retweet&utm_medium=social&utm_source=googleplus

Monday, I shared the podcast above. I got positive feed back from my professor and my classmates. We listened to everyone else and some of the storied that were told were very touching. Some even had some encouraging words.

September 21, 2015

Today in class we talked about podcasting. I was a little worried when my professor told us we were going to be doing our own due to the fact that I thought I was going to be on camera. But as she kept talking about it we are doing a voice audio and it's not over anything awful but only about ourself.
We also talked about how we were in high school and who influenced us the most on going to college.

I was not in class this day but the chapter was about twitter. This was also the day that you were not in class and you send us the google doc of what all was needed to be done. I still participated in the activities that were on the document. Watching the TedTalk video and answering the questions. Then added the two links to the live binder.

I use twitter daily to express my feelings and connect with friends. In one of my classes we use twitter to answer a question that the Professor posts.

Tonight in my Educational Technology class we had to get a background check so we can go out into the field and be placed in a classroom for our practicum. When going to sign up for our background check we got through the first part but when it asked for a PIN number we were all stumped. The professor had to call her boss and her boss is going to have to contact someone higher within the school to figure out what the PIN number is.

We did "chain notes" everyone got a half sheet of paper and we put a number up top to represent us. There was a question on this half sheet and we had to answer it in one to two sentences. Once a few minutes were up we had to pass it to the right. When getting the other persons we had to read their response and elaborate on what they said. When your paper went all around it will have different thoughts on it. The teacher let us keep is so we can use it to help us study for tests.

We also learned about blogging, hints why I have started a blog!! I've always wanted to blog but never knew what to blog about, now I have some ideas. We talked about the pros and cons of blogging.
